My story

Joanne Cobb Brown is currently Director of Music&Organist at Good Shepherd Episcopal in Covington, Music Teacher at MSC (Montessori School of Covington), and Instructor of Piano/Organ/Voice for musicsprouts.org – which offers lessons for all ages in 2 locations: Covington* & Conyers (home studio).
Lessons focus on fluency in the musical language, by learning to play/sing the student’s favorite music!

Ms. Brown has worked as a professional music copyist, club musician & studio musician (keyboards, lead vocals), and founded Kindermusik of Tara’s preschool classes via Kindermusik & Montessori-based Musikgarten training. She studied at Boston’s Berklee College of Music for 5 semesters – including improvisation, music ed., piano ensemble, arranging & composition. She earned her Bachelor of Music at CSU in Morrow, GA, majoring in Organ Performance on the Ruffatti pipe organ in Spivey Hall.

Church music ministry led her to earn a Master of Divinity (not for Ordination) at Candler School of Theology, Emory University, where professors included Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Professional Memberships include AAM (Assoc. of Anglican Musicians), and AGO (American Guild of Organists) for which she earned the Colleague Certificate, CAGO, and is a Past Dean of the Atlanta Chapter AGO. Ms. Brown welcomes any opportunity to compose parody, and enjoys doing stand-up comedy for church musicians.
